Clockling is a small Windows app that shows your Claude usage, made by Lis Shala. This page covers the app, this website and the Clockling account. In short: no ads, no analytics, nothing sold, and the least kept that makes linking your PCs work.
The app
Clockling reads your Claude usage from Anthropic and from files Claude keeps on your PC. What your chats say is never shown, stored or sent anywhere. Unless you link a Clockling account, it talks to nothing of ours: only to Anthropic, for your usage, and to GitHub, for updates and (if you turn it on) your own recent releases.
This website
clockling.com has no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies. It’s served by Cloudflare, which handles the requests as any web host does. Only the link page loads something from elsewhere: Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a script, is asking for a code before one is emailed. It looks at your browser for that check, usually without you seeing it.
The Clockling account
Linking is opt-in: it puts your PCs in one account, so your choices follow you and your usage adds up across them. You sign in with a code sent to your email, or with Google or Microsoft. There are no passwords. The server, at api.clockling.com, runs on Cloudflare, with its database in Europe. It keeps:
- Who you are, without your email. Your email is kept only as a keyed hash: we can tell it’s the same address next time, but can’t read it back. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, the same goes for the account id they give us.
- Your linked PCs: each one’s Windows name (for the list), when it linked and when it was last used, and a hash of its session.
- What you sync: the choices that follow you (shortcuts, notifications, Calm Kip and the like), and each PC’s usage numbers: Claude use by hour, model and project folder name, the days it was used, and milestones. Never what your chats say or their titles. Sync between PCs turns this off for a PC.
- For a few minutes, while you link: the code we emailed (10 minutes, as a hash), a sign-in on its way through Google or Microsoft (10 minutes), and the hand-over to your PC (2 minutes), which is the one place your email sits as typed, so Clockling can show who it’s linked as.
- Counters that stop too many codes or sign-ins in an hour (and too many code emails in a day, all together), with IP addresses as keyed hashes, gone after two days.
Google and Microsoft
If you choose them, we ask only for your account’s id and your email (the openid and email scopes), and only once, as you link. We take an email only if Google or Microsoft has verified it, and keep it as a hash, as above. We don’t ask for your contacts, your files or anything else, we keep no access to your account afterwards, and we never post or send anything as you. Microsoft: personal accounts only.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts this website and the account server and its database, and runs Turnstile, the check on the link page.
- Resend delivers the code emails, so it sees the address a code goes to.
- Google or Microsoft, only if you sign in with them.
Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.
Deleting it
Delete my account, under Clockling account in the pill’s menu, removes everything the server keeps about you, for every PC, at once. Unlink this PC removes that PC and its numbers. A PC unused for 180 days is unlinked by itself. Uninstalling Clockling removes what it keeps on your PC.
